NLC President Ajaero fixes date to honour Police invitation

Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) President Joe Ajaero has set Wednesday, August 29, as the date to meet with the Nigeria Police Force, following their summons over serious allegations, including criminal conspiracy, terrorism financing, treasonable felony, subversion, and cybercrime.

Ajaero's decision was conveyed to the Inspector General of Police through his legal counsel, Falana and Falana Chambers. In the letter, Ajaero also requested comprehensive details regarding the accusations against him, emphasizing his right to be informed under Section 36 of the Nigerian Constitution.

The letter, signed by Samuel Ogala, stated: “Mr. Ajaero is prepared to attend your interview on Wednesday, August 29, 2024. Additionally, in accordance with the provisions of Section 36 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 as amended, he requests full disclosure of the nature and details of the allegations, including criminal conspiracy, terrorism financing, treasonable felony, subversion, and cybercrime."

The letter concluded with a respectful tone, expressing anticipation for the police's response and affirming their professional regard. This move by Ajaero reflects his readiness to address the allegations head-on, while also ensuring his legal rights are upheld throughout the process.
