Nigerian man charged after stabbing Army Officer in UK
Upon the stabbing of an army officer close to a barrack in Gillingham, Kent, a Nigerian has been charged.
Following the attack on Lieutenant Colonel Mark Teeton at approximately 5:55 p.m. on Tuesday in Sally Port Gardens, close to Brompton Barracks, the headquarters of the 1 Royal School of Military Engineering Regiment, Anthony Esan, 24, was taken into custody.
The charges against him are possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and attempted murder. Esan was seen yesterday arriving at the Medway Magistrates' Court.
Following the stabbing, according to police, a man was seen riding off on a motorcycle. At around 6:30 p.m., there was an arrest made on Mooring Road in Rochester.
The victim, who is in his 40s, is in a serious but stable condition, according to Kent Police.
