Nigerian Lawmaker Alex Ikwechegh Arrested for Assaulting Bolt Driver in Viral Video
FCT Police arrested Alex Ikwechegh, House of Representatives member, after a viral video showed him assaulting a Bolt driver in Abuja. The lawmaker faces police questioning, with FCT Commissioner of Police ordering a thorough investigation.
The FCT Police Command has detained Alex Ikwechegh, a lawmaker representing Aba North & South in the House of Representatives, after he allegedly assaulted a Bolt driver, Stephen Abuwatseya. A viral video captured Ikwechegh slapping the driver over a payment dispute involving a snail delivery to the lawmaker’s residence.
In a dismissive tone, Ikwechegh told Abuwatseya to “call the Inspector General of Police” if he wished. FCT Commissioner of Police Olatunji Disu has ordered a full investigation, pledging impartiality and justice.
