The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced a halt on the export of locally produced Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), effective November 1, 2024. This move, spearheaded by the Minister of State Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo, aims to address the surging domestic prices of cooking gas, which have increased by 114% in 16 months.
The government plans to prioritize local supply and develop a new pricing framework within 90 days.
