Nigerian Army Arrests Suspects Linked to Banditry in Taraba State
Troops from the Nigerian Army arrest three individuals connected to banditry in Taraba State, disrupting a terrorist supply chain and enhancing security efforts
Troops from the Nigerian Army's 6 Brigade and Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) arrested three people linked to banditry in Taraba State, along with a logistics supplier for a known terrorist group. The suspects—Adamu Abubakar, Mohammed Bello, and Musa Adamu—were caught in Andamin village, Karim Lamido local government area, during a planned raid.
In a related operation in the Lau local government area, soldiers also detained Musa Inusa, who allegedly supplied essential items to terrorists in the area.
Captain Oni Olubodunde, the Acting Brigade spokesperson, stated that Inusa's arrest is expected to disrupt the supply chain and weaken the group's operations. Authorities recovered items including a jackknife, cash of ₦2,460, and suspected illegal substances like Indian hemp, indicating further criminal connections. Olubodunde emphasized that these actions aim to enhance security and reduce rising violence in Taraba’s border communities.
These arrests are viewed as crucial steps towards stabilizing Taraba State, which has recently faced banditry and terrorist activities. The Nigerian Army, alongside OPWS, is committed to eliminating threats to peace in the region.
