Nicki Minaj has revealed the inspiration behind featuring Afrobeats star Davido on her track If It’s Okay, a standout song from the 10th-anniversary edition of her iconic album The Pinkprint. Responding to a fan on X, Nicki explained that she collaborated with Davido to infuse the song with a genuine Afrobeats tempo and feeling.
She praised Davido’s talent, stating, “That man is an incredible writer and melody maker. It’s always a pleasure working with him because of our mutual respect for one another. I asked him to be part of it to bring out the Afrobeat vibe a bit more. Naija to the world.”
The special edition of The Pinkprint commemorates the album’s legacy with four new tracks, including collaborations with Swae Lee (Turn Ya Cap Back), David Guetta and Davido (If It’s Okay), and the late Juice WRLD (Arctic Tundra). This project also marks a reunion for Nicki and Davido, who previously worked together on Holy Ground from Davido’s 2020 album A Better Time.
