A tragic discovery was made in Bauchi metropolis when a newborn baby was found dead in a refuse dump. The lifeless infant, wrapped in black leather bags, was discovered by residents of Kobi Street, near Wunti Gate, on Thursday.
Musa Jibrin, the community leader of Wunti North, shared details of the heartbreaking find during an interview with journalists. According to Jibrin, the baby, believed to have been born the day before, was callously abandoned in the dump. "I was called early this morning about a lifeless baby girl found behind Alh Babangida Mai Coca-Cola shop, where refuse is usually dumped. When we arrived, I found the baby tied inside two black leather bags," Jibrin explained.
Immediately upon discovering the body, Jibrin alerted local authorities. "I quickly reported the matter to my Mai Gunduma, who directed me to inform the police at the Township station, which I did," he added.
Following the discovery, officers from the Bauchi State Police Command were dispatched to the scene to recover the body and launch an investigation into the incident. The authorities are working to uncover the circumstances surrounding the baby's tragic abandonment.
