NDLEA Kaduna Arrests 420 Suspects, Seizes Over 1,000kg of Illicit Drugs
The NDLEA Kaduna command arrests 420 suspects and seizes over 1,000 kg of illicit drugs and ammunition, while rehabilitating 50 drug-dependent individuals
Samaila Danmalam, Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kaduna, revealed to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday that 420 suspects were arrested between January and September 2024. The arrests included 404 men and 16 women, comprising drug dealers, users, and traffickers.
Danmalam further detailed the seizures made during the period, which included cocaine, cannabis sativa, rohypnol, tramadol, methamphetamine, and other psychotropic substances, weighing a total of 1,045.93 kg. The command also confiscated 1,393 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition and four locally made arms.
Additionally, 30 drug offenders were convicted, and 54 suspects were charged, with investigations ongoing for other cases. In a non-kinetic approach, the command counseled 50 drug users and successfully rehabilitated and reintegrated another 50 former addicts into society.
Danmalam reiterated the NDLEA’s commitment to fighting drug trafficking and appealed for timely information to help combat the menace more effectively.
