My car used to embarrass my wife – Timi Dakolo
Timi Dakolo shares the story of how he met his wife, Busola, revealing his persistence and determination to win her love despite her initial reluctance.
Renowned singer Timi Dakolo has opened up about the intriguing journey of how he met and won the heart of his wife, Busola Dakolo.
The "Iyawo Mi" crooner shared in a recent interview with Pulse that their love story began in church. Despite his initial interest, Busola wasn’t keen on a romantic relationship, but Timi’s persistence eventually paid off.
He revealed that their first encounter happened when he asked her to be his date for a ball. Though she gave him her number, Busola didn’t pick up his calls, claiming her phone was stolen. Undeterred, Timi kept visiting her area, determined to see her again.
“We became friends, and I started developing feelings for her. She tried to friend-zone me, but I refused. I suffered to win her love,” Timi admitted.
Recalling those days, he noted how she used to feel embarrassed when he picked her up in the branded Picanto car he won during the inaugural season of Idols West Africa in 2007. "I told her, ‘Don’t worry, I’ll shock you. Don’t look down on me.’ And I did," Timi added with a laugh.
The couple tied the knot in 2012 and have since built a beautiful family with three children, proving that Timi’s determination and love stood the test of time.
