Muyeez Ends Contract with Dapper Music Over Allegations of Exploitation and Neglect

Up-and-coming Nigerian artist Moshood Abdulmuiz, known professionally as Muyeez, has officially terminated his contract with Dapper Music & Entertainment Limited, citing allegations of exploitation, neglect, and betrayal.

In a heartfelt statement shared on his Instagram account on Wednesday, Muyeez, a protégé of Nigerian music star Seyi Vibez, opened up about the challenges he faced under the company’s management, describing his experience as a "nightmare."

“A Dream Turned Nightmare”
Muyeez expressed his frustration, writing:
"I am breaking my silence to share the painful truth about my journey as an artist under Dapper Music & Entertainment Limited. What should have been a dream come true turned into a nightmare of exploitation, neglect, and betrayal. I can no longer stay silent while my hard work and dedication are taken for granted. It is with a heavy heart that I announce the termination of my agreement with Dapper Music & Entertainment Limited."

Claims of Unpaid Royalties
The young artist alleged that despite releasing three highly successful extended plays (EPs) within a month—all of which topped the charts—he had not received any royalties for his work.
"In just one month, I released three EPs, all of which reached number one on the charts. Yet, despite this success, I have not received a single royalty payment for my efforts. My passion and hard work were met with indifference, leaving me to wonder if my voice truly mattered," he added.

Muyeez also revealed he was a minor when he signed his contract, trusting the company to guide him, only to face "impossible demands."

Fellow Signee Shallipopi Speaks Out
Muyeez’s announcement comes shortly after another Dapper Music signee, Crown Uzama, popularly known as Shallipopi, also terminated his contract with the company. Shallipopi accused Dapper Music of financial mismanagement, a lack of transparency, and enforcing exploitative contracts.

These revelations have drawn attention to the challenges young artists face in the Nigerian music industry, sparking calls for better contracts and fair treatment.
