Mr P Writes Emotional Open Letter To Brother, Rudeboy

Peter Okoye, widely known as Mr P, has penned an open letter to his brother and former P-Square partner, Paul Okoye, also known as Rudeboy. This letter comes in the wake of recent tensions that have once again strained their relationship, leading to the group's dissolution for the second time.

The P-Square duo, whose musical partnership first ended in 2016, had briefly reunited in 2021. However, the reconciliation was short-lived. In a recent interview, Rudeboy confirmed that P-Square has split once more, attributing the group's success largely to his efforts and claiming he penned the majority of their hit tracks.

Mr P responded to these statements with an emotional letter posted on his verified Facebook page, accusing his brother of undermining his contributions and disrespecting his family. Here is the full text of Mr P’s letter:

Dear Paul,

As I have mentioned numerous times, I am not competing with you or anyone else. Yet, your repeated interviews that diminish my role in our shared venture deeply trouble me. You’ve recently asserted that you wrote and performed 99% of P-Square’s songs, and you criticized our collaboration with TI on "EjeaJo," a track I wrote, as a failure. Your reliance on YouTube views to belittle my efforts is disheartening.

Have you forgotten our hits like "Get-Squared," "Bizzy Body," "Personally," "Roll It," "Temptation," "Alingo," "More than a Friend," "Shekini," "Say Your Love," "Gimme Dat," "Senorita," "IGBEdu," and others? Were these also failures in your eyes?

I have always referred to P-Square as “we” and “us,” reflecting our teamwork. In contrast, you often use “I” and “me,” even when I am right beside you. It’s as if my existence in the group is invisible to you.

Neither of us is the most talented artist globally, but we were blessed with talent and a second chance to succeed after our initial split. Yet, you’ve chosen to make a mockery of our successful history, turning the once-celebrated P-Square into a subject of ridicule.

The essence of P-Square wasn’t defined by who sang or danced the most. It was the synergy between us that resonated with the fans. P-Square thrived because of our combined effort and unity.

While I have often praised your songwriting skills and the contributions of anyone who helped us, you seem to take pleasure in undermining me. It is by God’s grace that we have achieved what we have, and it is essential to remember that.

Rather than working together to reclaim our top position in the music industry, you aligned yourself with Jude to assert dominance within P-Square, marginalizing and humiliating me in the process.

Your claims of being P-Square’s sole songwriter, producer, singer, backup vocalist, and even video director are exaggerated. If you truly believe you are the be-all and end-all of P-Square, then you can have it all—100% of everything.

I regret not addressing your April 2015 tweet where you claimed sole authorship of P-Square’s songs. I chose peace at that time, advised by family and friends, but now I see the cost of that decision.

So, I ask you: Are Rudeboy or Mr P more successful than P-Square today? Are we individually drawing crowds or topping global music charts like P-Square once did?

I often wonder what you gain by constantly belittling and disrespecting me. Your actions have disrespected my wife, my family, my talent, and my ideas. You have even aligned with Jude against me.

It seems you are now trying to turn our fans against me, portraying me as envious. But fans won’t hate me; they will despise us both for failing to meet their expectations.

I genuinely wish you the best, brother. For those who have been misled and leave negative comments on my page, I understand your perspective as you’ve been fed false narratives. Please allow me to focus on my music in peace.

I will address the EFCC matter by the end of today. Stay tuned! Peace.
