Mohbad’s Friend Primeboy Sues Nigerian Police for Rights Violation
Primeboy, Mohbad’s childhood friend, sues the Nigerian Police for violating his human rights after being declared wanted. He seeks the removal of his name from the wanted list
Ibrahim Owodunni, also known as Primeboy and a childhood friend of late singer Mohbad, has taken legal action against the Nigeria Police Force, alleging a violation of his fundamental human rights. The lawsuit was filed on October 11, 2024, at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos.
This legal move follows the Lagos State Police Command’s declaration on October 4, 2023, which listed Primeboy as wanted for failing to respond to an invitation amidst the investigation into Mohbad’s death. Primeboy turned himself in the next day.
In a statement issued by his lawyer, Akinpelu Ogunbona, on October 17, Primeboy is seeking a court order to have his name removed from the wanted list. Ogunbona argued that the police bulletin violated Primeboy’s right to dignity and respect as a human being.
Primeboy is requesting the court to declare the police gazette unlawful and to delist his name from the wanted list, among other reliefs. This lawsuit comes shortly after Primeboy threatened to sue Mohbad’s mother, Abosede Adeyemo-Aloba, for defamation.
