Actress May Yul Edochie has responded to the criticism she received following her divorce from Yul Edochie. She clarified that she is not advocating for divorce and emphasized her belief in the importance of marriage and family.
Actress May Yul Edochie has recently addressed the public backlash she faced after filing for divorce from her ex-husband, Yul Edochie, in 2023. In an interview with comedian AY Makun, she clarified misconceptions about her stance on marriage and family.
May emphasized her deep respect for marriage and family, stating that she believes marriage is the foundation of family life. She also clarified that she is not advocating for divorce or separation under any circumstances.
The actress's divorce from Yul Edochie, who had taken a second wife, was a highly publicized event. May filed for divorce on grounds of adultery, citing the 1970 Marriage Act, which prohibits polygamy. She also sought legal action against both Yul and his new wife, Judy Austin, for damages.
In addition to the divorce proceedings, May obtained a restraining order against Yul due to concerns about his behavior, which she described as "erratic, irrational, aggressive, and increasingly threatening." This measure was taken to ensure her safety and the safety of her children.
Despite the challenges she has faced, May remains committed to her belief in the sanctity of marriage and family. She hopes that her clarification will dispel the negative perceptions that have been circulating about her.
