Mason Greenwood scores twice for Marseille in his first match following a £27 million transfer
Mason Greenwood has been on fire since relocating to Marseille this summer, netting his first goals in France.
Ever since moving to Marseille this summer, Mason Greenwood has been on fire, scoring his first goals in France. In just three minutes during Marseille's season-opening trip to Brest, the former Manchester United forward opened his account.
After winning and scoring a penalty, he scored his second goal in less than half an hour.
Following his departure from Brighton after their final game of the 2023–24 season, the erstwhile misfit at Old Trafford was the first player signed by former Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi. He returned the favor by making it 1-0.
The Manchester United academy produced Mason Greenwood. When United defeated PSG 3-1 at home in March 2019, the young player made his debut as a late substitution. Two months later, he made his debut in a home loss to Cardiff.
As a member of the first team, Greenwood traveled with United during their preseason tours in 2018 and 2019. When he was accused of attempted rape, assault, and coercive control in January 2022, he was suspended by United, a charge he refuted. He transferred on loan to Getafe in the summer of 2023 once the accusations were dropped.
