Ado-Ekiti resident Kunle Ogunnusi was arrested for repeatedly abusing his 4-year-old son, inflicting severe injuries under the guise of discipline. He faces legal action following a community tip-off.
The Ekiti State Police Command has apprehended Kunle Ogunnusi, a resident of Oke-Ila in Ado-Ekiti, for allegedly inflicting severe injuries on his 4-year-old son under the guise of “discipline.” The arrest was made following a tip-off from concerned neighbors within the Oke-Ila community, who had become alarmed by the frequent abuse.
According to a statement from the state’s police spokesman, Sunday Abutu, Ogunnusi admitted to the abuse during interrogation, claiming that his son’s behavior had provoked him. Further investigation revealed a disturbing pattern of violence, with the suspect regularly subjecting the young boy to brutal beatings using dangerous objects, often for minor infractions.
The Commissioner of Police, Akinwale Adeniran, condemned the act, emphasizing that Ogunnusi would face legal consequences for his actions. The case highlights the pressing need for greater awareness and intervention in child abuse cases within the community.
