Man arrested for allegedly killing friend in Ondo
The Ondo State Police Command arrests 12 suspects, including Monday Chukwu, for murder and other crimes. Chukwu allegedly stabbed his friend over a ₦2,000 debt, while two teenagers are accused of the brutal killing of a caterer in Akure.
The Ondo State Police Command has arrested Monday Chukwu, a resident of Akintola village, for allegedly stabbing his friend, Kefa Ofando, to death over a ₦2,000 loan. Chukwu is one of twelve suspects arrested for crimes including murder, robbery, and arson, paraded by the State Police Commissioner, Abayomi Oladipo, at the command headquarters in Akure.
According to police investigations, the fatal incident occurred when an argument broke out after Ofando, 30, demanded repayment of the loan. In a fit of rage, Chukwu reportedly stabbed him in the neck with scissors, leading to Ofando’s death from severe injuries.
Among the other suspects is 16-year-old secondary school student Precious Kolawole, who, along with 17-year-old accomplice Philip Emmanuel, has been accused of the brutal murder of Akure-based caterer, Mrs. Adeniyi Iyabode. The police commissioner detailed how Kolawole, after overhearing Mrs. Adeniyi discussing a large sum of money in her bank account, plotted the murder with Emmanuel. Investigations revealed that the duo inflicted fatal knife and machete wounds on the victim, resulting in her death.
