Lily Allen returned adopted puppy after it ate her family’s passports

British singer Lily Allen recently shared a surprising story on her podcast ‘Miss Her?’, where she confessed to returning a puppy she had adopted during the COVID-19 pandemic. The reason? The mischievous pup, named Mary, managed to eat not only her passport but also those of her two daughters, Ethel and Marnie. The passports, crucial for travel during the pandemic, had visas attached, and the loss of these documents turned Allen’s life into what she described as a “logistical nightmare.”

Allen revealed that the incident left her feeling devastated. “The dog ate all three of our passports, and I can’t express how much it cost to get everything replaced, especially during COVID,” she said. The situation was particularly distressing because it prevented her daughters from seeing their father, who resides in the UK, for several months. Ultimately, the stress and inconvenience caused by the dog’s behavior led Allen to return Mary to the adoption center.

Although the experience was a tough one, Allen and her husband, actor David Harbour, are now contemplating adopting a new dog. However, animal rights organization PETA has publicly urged her to reconsider, emphasizing that dogs are not accessories to be abandoned when they become troublesome.

Allen, who currently lives in New York with Harbour, has two children from her previous marriage to Sam Cooper, who lives in the UK. The story has sparked conversations about the responsibilities of pet ownership, especially during challenging times.
