Libya Appeals CAF’s Penalties Over Canceled AFCON Qualifier Against Nigeria
The Libya Football Federation has appealed CAF’s decision to award Nigeria a 3-0 victory and impose a $50,000 fine after logistical challenges led to the cancellation of their AFCON qualifier in Benghazi.
The Libya Football Federation (LFF) has filed an appeal with CAF after being penalized for the cancellation of their 2025 AFCON qualifier against Nigeria on October 15. CAF awarded Nigeria a 3-0 victory and fined Libya $50,000 due to logistical issues faced by the Super Eagles.
Displeased with the ruling, the LFF hired Tunisian lawyer Ali Abbas to challenge the decision. This appeal could impact Nigeria’s qualification as they need just one more point to secure a spot in the tournament.
