Lawyer Accuses Police of Ignoring Court Bail Order for Speed Darlington, Hints at Bribery
Speed Darlington’s lawyer, Stan Alieke, accuses the police of flouting a Federal High Court bail order and suggests bribery involvement, as the singer remains in custody.
Stan Alieke, the lawyer representing embattled singer Speed Darlington, has expressed frustration over the police’s refusal to release his client despite a Federal High Court bail order issued on December 23, 2024.
Speed Darlington, initially rearrested on November 27 over alleged cyberstalking of Burna Boy, was granted bail by the Federal High Court in Abuja nearly a month later. However, his continued detention has sparked outrage among his supporters and legal team.
In a now-viral Instagram video, Alieke accused the police of deliberately defying the court’s directive and hinted at potential bribery involving Burna Boy.
“We’ve done everything within legal bounds to secure his release,” Alieke lamented. “I’ve even tapped into all my connections, including political allies here in Abuja, yet the police remain adamant. There’s no justification for disregarding the court’s order granting Darlington bail.”
The lawyer also recounted an earlier incident, alleging that during Speed Darlington’s prior arrest in October, Burna Boy and his team were seen handing out cash to police officers.
“The first time he was arrested, Burna was there with his team. After the meeting, I saw him distributing bundles of cash to the police, who were even asking for selfies. I warned my staff then that if this happened again, it would be worse for him,” Alieke said.
The singer’s prolonged detention has raised questions about the integrity of legal processes and the potential influence of external forces. Fans and advocates continue to demand his immediate release.
