Kunle Afolayan Shares Experience Directing a Movie Without Understanding Its Storyline

Award-winning Nigerian filmmaker Kunle Afolayan has opened up about a unique experience directing a movie he didn’t understand. Speaking at the KAP Film & Television Academy’s Reel Circle, Afolayan revealed how he struggled with an abstract installation film, saying, “I didn’t understand the storyline. Even after reading the script and meeting the producer, it still didn’t make sense.”
Despite the challenges, he pushed through, filming in historic locations and premiering the movie in five countries in 2007. “Up till now, I still don’t know the story,” he admitted.
