KiDi and Gyakie Set to Ignite the Afrobeats Scene with “Cheat On You”

Ghanaian music sensation KiDi, whose real name is Dennis Nana Dwamena, has been a cornerstone of the afrobeats and high-life genres since his breakout in 2017. He rose to fame after winning MTN Hitmaker in 2015. KiDi’s journey reflects a blend of raw talent and relentless ambition.

Signed to Lynx Entertainment, he quickly became a household name with his silky vocals and infectious melodies. His 2021 album The Golden Boy solidified his status. It featured hits like “Touch It,” which dominated charts across Ghana, Nigeria, and Kenya. The single even gained international traction in the UK.

KiDi’s ability to fuse afrobeats with high-life and R&B has earned him numerous accolades. This includes the 2022 Vodafone Ghana Music Award for Artiste of the Year. Tracks like “Say You Love Me” and “Odo” showcase his knack for crafting love anthems that resonate deeply with fans. These achievements have cemented his reputation as Ghana’s “Golden Boy.”

Now, KiDi is teaming up with another Ghanaian powerhouse, Gyakie, for their highly anticipated single “Cheat On You,” set to drop on April 10, 2025. Kidi and Gyakie announce a new single that has created a huge buzz. The announcement, shared via his vibrant X post, featured a promotional image with a split orange and blue background. This has fans buzzing with excitement. 

Gyakie, Jackline Acheampong, is no stranger to the spotlight. She is the daughter of high-life legend Nana Acheampong, and she grew up immersed in music. From age eight, she would accompany her father to the studio. A student of International Business at Kwame Nkrumah University, Gyakie balances academics with her rising music career. Her 2020 debut EP Seed introduced her as a fresh voice in afro-fusion and R&B. The single “Forever” charted in Ghana, Nigeria, and Kenya. KiDi and Gyakie’s announced collaboration is a thrilling moment for fans.

Her 2022 EP My Diary further showcased her growth. It blended sultry jazz and afropop in tracks like “Audience” and “Something.” Together, KiDi and Gyakie are poised to deliver a banger that could dominate the afrobeats scene. With their combined star power and the genre’s global rise, “Cheat On You” is set to be a defining moment for both artists in 2025.
