Kendrick Lamar has taken fans by surprise with the release of his latest album, GNX, capping off a stellar 2024. Announced on November 22, 2024, the 12-track project includes the much-anticipated Heart 6, a bold continuation of his iconic Heart Series. The track subtly addresses Drake, whose diss song also titled Heart 6 sparked further tension in their ongoing rap feud.
The album’s release comes shortly after Lamar was named “Rapper of the Year” by Apple Music, which praised his unmatched influence on hip-hop throughout 2024. Accompanying the album on Apple Music, Kendrick left a cryptic message: “He asked us to ‘watch the party die,’ but only so he could resurrect it.”
Surprisingly, GNX omits Kendrick’s high-profile diss tracks aimed at Drake, including the fan-favorite Not Like Us, which had become a talking point in their legendary rap rivalry. Despite this, Kendrick’s decision to focus on fresh material has earned praise from fans and critics alike.
With recent Grammy nominations for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Rap Song of the Year, as well as a headlining slot at the 2025 Super Bowl in New Orleans, Kendrick Lamar continues to prove why he’s one of hip-hop’s most celebrated artists. GNX ensures he ends the year on a triumphant note.
