Kazim Adeoti, husband of actress Mercy Aigbe, has explained why he was notably absent from his first wife Olufunso’s 50th birthday celebration, a topic that sparked online discussions. Adeoti, who married Olufunso in 2002 and shares four children with her, addressed the situation in an Instagram post.
Amid the speculation surrounding his absence, Adeoti clarified that his non-attendance was due to Olufunso's specific request. The filmmaker, who now resides in Lagos with Aigbe, stated that he had discussed the event with Olufunso in advance. Despite his willingness to be present, she insisted that he not attend.
In his post, Adeoti explained, "We talked about her birthday plans, and to my surprise, she firmly asked me not to attend, even in front of our children. As much as her decision hurt me, I respected her wishes and stayed in Nigeria. I supported her morally and financially and ensured our family and friends in the U.S. were there to celebrate with her."
Adeoti emphasized that despite not being physically present, he contributed to making the celebration a success.
