Katsina state government Highlights ₦2.5 Billion Education Improvements in the state
Dr. Kabir Magaji highlights major projects in education since taking office in August 2023, including classroom construction, solar upgrades, teacher recruitment, and more in Katsina
The Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr. Kabir Magaji, announced on Thursday in Katsina that several projects have been completed since he took office in August 2023. Among his achievements, 73 shades were built, each costing ₦2.5 million.
He also highlighted the procurement of First Aid supplies worth ₦14.7 million for IQSA centers and the allocation of ₦15 million for data collection and reporting. Additionally, ₦2.72 million was spent on monthly allowances for teams conducting IQS spot checks.
Magaji mentioned that staff quarters were built in remote areas to improve teacher stability, and ₦120 million was spent on solar inverters for 40 primary schools. Solar upgrades for 34 Local Government Education Areas (LGEAs) cost ₦75 million, and ₦25 million was spent on laptops for monitoring officers.
The rehabilitation of 68 classrooms and construction of 67 new classroom blocks cost over ₦1.7 billion, while 23 boreholes were provided for schools at a cost of ₦67.1 million. Other expenditures included ₦25 million for furniture, ₦33 million for school certificates, and ₦75 million for schemes of work. Additionally, the recruitment of 5,095 primary school teachers was approved, and ₦4 million was released to pay allowances to 74 casual staff members
