Kano Man Sentenced to 7 Years for Sexual Abuse of Three Boys

A Kano State High Court has sentenced 27-year-old Abdullahi Lawan to seven years in prison for sexually abusing three teenage boys. Lawan, from Rangaza Damagari in Ungogo Local Government, was charged with three counts of sexual abuse and pleaded guilty.

Justice Aisha Mahmoud sentenced him to seven years for each charge, to run concurrently, without the option of a fine. However, the judge ordered him to pay a N1 million fine, and if he fails to pay, he will serve an extra two years in prison.

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) brought the case, proving that Lawan exploited the boys, aged 10 to 13, by giving them gifts and money. The court reviewed evidence, including Lawan’s confession, and found him guilty.
