South Korean actress Han So Hee's mother, Ms. Shin, has been arrested for operating illegal gambling establishments, as reported by South Korean media outlet TV Chosun. The arrest took place on September 2, 2024, marking yet another chapter in the troubled relationship between the Nevertheless star and her mother.
Ms. Shin, who is 50 years old, has a history of legal troubles, with previous fraud cases casting a shadow over her relationship with her famous daughter. This latest incident marks her second arrest, stemming from allegations of involvement in managing 12 illegal gambling dens across various cities, including Ulsan and Wonju, since 2021.
Authorities allege that Ms. Shin utilized "proxy owners" to operate these establishments discreetly. Patrons were reportedly able to engage in games like Baccarat through a gambling website controlled by her.
This isn't the first time Ms. Shin has found herself in the spotlight for the wrong reasons. In recent years, she has been involved in multiple fraud cases, some of which involved using Han So Hee's name to secure loans, further straining their already fragile relationship.
