JUST IN: An explosion rocks the Rivers APP secretariat

On Monday morning, a dynamite explosion shook the Action People's Party secretariat located in the GRA area of Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State. It was learned that the incident happened early on Monday, at approximately one in the morning. The attackers apparently tossed what appeared to be dynamite into the secretariat building, breaking windows and doors and damaging other party property. This occurred amid rumors that Siminalayi Fubara, the state governor, was about to join his supporters in the APP in response to the Peoples Democratic Party being purportedly hijacked by his predecessor and estranged political godfather, Nyesom Wike, in the state.

A party official claimed the event was politically driven, but he declined to identify himself to our reporter. "Yes, I am a member of the APP," he said.
