John Amos Wanted Death Announcement Delayed to Avoid "Circus," Says Publicist
John Amos feared his daughter would turn his death into a "circus," leading to the delayed announcement, his publicist reveals. Family tensions rise following the actor’s passing
John Amos reportedly wanted the news of his death delayed, fearing his daughter would create a “circus” around it, according to his longtime publicist. Amos' son, Kelly Christopher (K.C.) Amos, announced the actor’s passing on Instagram, over 40 days after he died at 84 from congestive heart failure. After the announcement, Amos' daughter, Shannon, claimed she only learned of her father’s death through media reports.
Amos' goddaughter, Amy Gaudy, released a statement on behalf of Shannon and other family members, accusing K.C. and the actor’s publicist, Belinda Foster, of keeping them away from John Amos during his final year and possibly exploiting his elderly vulnerability.
