I’d rather kill than die for someone – Burna Boy
Burna Boy sparks conversations with bold Instagram comments on authenticity, self-preservation, and debunking lifestyle lies as he declares, "I’m not Fela, I’m BIG7."
Nigerian music sensation Damini Ogulu, famously known as Burna Boy, has sparked conversations once again with his unapologetic take on life, social media culture, and authenticity.
In a bold series of Instagram posts on Monday, the Grammy-winning artist emphasized his stance on integrity, making it clear that he values self-preservation over self-sacrifice. “Honestly, I’d rather kill you than die for you,” Burna declared, underscoring his commitment to “positivity, peace, and prosperity” as the year draws to a close.
Burna Boy also addressed ongoing comparisons between himself and the legendary Afrobeat pioneer, Fela Kuti. Dismissing the parallels, he firmly stated, “I’m not Fela, I’m BIG7,” reinforcing his distinct identity in the music world.
But the “Last Last” hitmaker didn’t stop there. He called out a culture of dishonesty among certain individuals, taking aim at unnamed personalities who he accused of fabricating their lifestyles. “If you ever lied about buying Sujimoto’s house in Banana Island when you only rented it, do better in 2025,” he said.
He continued, “If you ever lied about Elele’s house being yours, do better in 2025. If you have an aftermarket ‘rainbow Daytona,’ please stop telling people it’s real. Do better in 2025.”
Burna concluded with a sharp rebuke, suggesting that chronic dishonesty should be punishable by law. “It should be a criminal offence to tell as many lies as certain men. The list can go on and on.”
With his no-holds-barred commentary, Burna Boy once again proves he’s unafraid to speak his truth, shaking up the entertainment world and challenging societal norms.
