I want to return to prison - Bobrisky

Controversial socialite Bobrisky has shed light on why he wouldn’t mind returning to Kirikiri prison, despite the challenges he faced during his six-month incarceration. Bobrisky, known for his flamboyant lifestyle and fearless personality, was arrested in April after videos surfaced of him spraying cash at an event, leading to charges of abusing the naira.

In a recent episode of the ‘Curiosity Made Me Ask’ podcast, Bobrisky reflected on his time in prison, describing it as an unexpected but welcome break from his hectic life. He likened his prison stint to a vacation, a period of rest after years of relentless work.

"I see my jail term as a vacation. On vacation, you go and rest. I’ve been working so hard, and I think their decision was okay for me," Bobrisky explained. Far from being broken by the experience, he said it only reinforced his resilience. "The decision was to break me, but sadly, nothing happened to Mummy of Lagos. I’m still fine, I’m still good, and I will continue to be fine and good."

During the podcast, hosted by Bae U, Bobrisky was asked if he would ever consider returning to prison. With his characteristic boldness, he replied, "I would love to go, maybe for a short term like that again. Short term, not long-term."

Bobrisky’s perspective on his imprisonment was as defiant as it was reflective. He found it absurd that he was sentenced to prison for spending his own money, a punishment he views as disproportionate. "It’s funny to me. Everything happened like a movie. Spraying of money? It’s my money. I’m not owing anybody. I did not steal money. I did not kidnap, I did not rape. I did not kill anybody. I spent my own hard-earned money, and I was sentenced to where we have a lot of criminals."

He also rejected the label of "ex-convict," arguing that his imprisonment for spraying money does not warrant such a title. "I’m not an ex-convict because I can’t be convicted for spraying money. So I won’t accept it," he declared.

Bobrisky’s unapologetic stance and his ability to find empowerment even in adversity continue to make him one of Nigeria’s most talked-about personalities. His experience in Kirikiri, far from diminishing his spirit, seems to have only strengthened his resolve to live life on his own terms.
