“I live with my family, I ask their opinions on what I wear” – Ayra Starr
Afrobeats star Ayra Starr shares how family life and close friendships keep her grounded amid fame, revealing her reliance on loved ones for style advice and support.
Afrobeats star Ayra Starr, known offstage as Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, recently opened up about how family and close friendships keep her grounded amid her rising fame.
In a candid conversation with Coco Jones for Rolling Stone’s *Musicians on Musicians* series, Ayra revealed that despite her global success, she still embraces the vibrant, sometimes noisy life at home in Nigeria, where she’s surrounded by her family. “When I go back home, I still live with my family. My brothers are making noise playing video games,” she laughed.
Ayra also shared that her friends play a key role in her life, especially when it comes to fashion. Through a lively group chat, she relies on their honest input on her style choices. “I still involve my friends in my life. We have a group chat where I solicit their opinions on what I wear,” she said. “I thank God for my friends and family. Although, sometimes, it gets overwhelming, and I have to disappear.”
