“I emptied my bank account to ensure Tinubu became president” — Asari Dokubo
Asari Dokubo reveals he invested over $2 million of his own funds to support President Tinubu's 2023 campaign, expressing loyalty and hope for regional progress.
Former Niger Delta militant leader Asari Dokubo revealed on Tuesday that he invested over $2 million from his own savings to back President Bola Tinubu's 2023 presidential campaign. Driven by a vision for progress in the Niger Delta and faith in Tinubu’s leadership, Dokubo disclosed his substantial commitment during an appearance on Arise TV’s Morning Show.
Dokubo expressed unwavering loyalty, saying, “If Tinubu encounters any difficulty, I will still stick out my neck and stand for him because, at a time, he stood for me.” He clarified that his support was not fueled by personal gain, adding, “I did not lobby for anything, so it’s not personal. Yes, I emptied my bank account and spent over two million US dollars; I can’t count what I spent in Naira. I didn’t take a dime from anybody except Ijakry, who gave me N300 million.”
His statement has sparked conversations about dedication and loyalty, as Dokubo’s bold financial sacrifice reflects his commitment to both Tinubu’s presidency and the development of his home region.
