‘I didn’t defame you’ – Bobrisky reacts to Falana’s ultimatum
Bobrisky denies defaming Femi Falana and Falz after receiving a 12-hour ultimatum to retract claims from a leaked audio. The controversy stems from accusations made by social critic VeryDarkMan.
Controversial crossdresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has addressed the 12-hour ultimatum issued by prominent human rights lawyer Femi Falana and his son, rapper Falz, following accusations of defamation. The ultimatum came after social media critic VeryDarkMan leaked an audio recording allegedly linking Bobrisky to damaging claims about the Falanas.
In his Instagram story on Wednesday night, Bobrisky denied making any defamatory statements against Falana and Falz, rejecting the demand for a retraction and public apology. He emphasized his denial of involvement in the allegations, asserting that his right to private communication must be respected.
The controversy stems from a leaked audio recording by VeryDarkMan in September, where Bobrisky allegedly narrated how Falz, through his father, offered assistance while he was imprisoned, involving a presidential pardon and a purported N15 million bribe to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Further claims included bribes to the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) to secure Bobrisky's VIP custody.
Bobrisky had been arrested in April for money laundering and currency mutilation by the EFCC. While money laundering charges were dropped, a Federal High Court sentenced him to six months for Naira mutilation. This ongoing legal drama has since sparked widespread debate and fueled public curiosity about the unfolding events surrounding Bobrisky and the Falanas.
