I almost poisoned myself over fake news – Eniola Ajao

Yoruba actress and filmmaker Eniola Ajao recently opened up about the intense emotional turmoil she faced due to fake news on social media, revealing that it nearly drove her to take her own life.

In an interview with Nollywood on Radio, Ajao shared how damaging rumors deeply affected her mental health, pushing her to isolate herself for an entire week without eating. She recounted how close she came to poisoning herself, overwhelmed by the weight of false stories circulating online.

Ajao recalled, “I almost poisoned myself over things said about me online that were so far from the truth. It was the first time I experienced such pain that I didn’t eat or leave my house for seven days. My family and son were my pillars, urging me not to give up.”

Her candid revelation sheds light on the serious mental health toll misinformation can have, even on public figures.
