Hunger Protest: Military Will Act to Prevent Chaos, General Musa Warns

General Christopher Musa, Chief of Defence Staff, has urged groups protesting against the country's hardships to avoid actions leading to chaos and destruction. He warned that the Armed Forces and security agencies would not remain passive while the nation is in turmoil.

General Musa stated, "We must avoid any actions that could bring chaos to our communities. The destruction we witnessed on Thursday is alarming, and if it continues, the consequences will be severe.

"What began as a seemingly peaceful demonstration was quickly hijacked by criminals with ill intentions. We had previously warned that certain individuals were ready to incite violence once protests started. I appeal to Nigerians to understand that the federal government is striving to improve the situation.

"The armed forces and all security agencies will not allow the nation to be destroyed. We will take professional action, and anyone caught will be prosecuted.

"The government has shown its commitment to allowing free association. The security forces, especially the Nigerian police, have demonstrated professionalism, even when the armed forces had to intervene. We remain professional in our conduct, as long as citizens understand the difference between peaceful protests and criminal activities.

"The government has implemented policies to address the economic and security challenges. Progress is being made. With everyone's support, we can achieve peace and economic growth. Recently, I visited the Niger Delta to ensure increased production, which will fund our economy. I urge Nigerians to understand the government's efforts.

"If you have grievances, as many do, remember that economic and security challenges are not unique to Nigeria but are global issues."
