Davido opens up about coping with grief after losing loved ones and addresses misconceptions about his personality, crediting faith for his strength.
Nigerian music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has opened up about how he deals with the immense pain of losing loved ones. Having faced several personal tragedies, including the loss of his mother, Mrs. Victoria Imade Adeleke, at age 11, and the recent loss of his 3-year-old son, Ifeanyi, as well as close friends and associates like Tagbo, DJ Olu, Obama DMW, and photographer Fortune, Davido shared how his faith has been his anchor.
In a recent interview with *Mystery Fashionist* in New York, the singer spoke about staying strong despite these heartbreaking losses. "I have lost a lot of people. I lost my mum at the age of eleven. I’m just being strong. I did a song called ‘Stand Strong.’ I feel like strength and obviously, my faith has kept me going," he said.
Addressing some of the misconceptions people have about him, Davido added, "I think sometimes people think I am not approachable. Another misconception is that people also think I am too accessible."
The award-winning artist emphasized that his upbringing in a large family and his constant interaction with people have shaped his personality. "My talent and success is God-given," he concluded, underscoring his deep sense of faith and gratitude.
Despite the pain of loss, Davido continues to inspire with his resilience and humility, remaining grounded in faith while navigating the pressures of fame.
