Halima Abubakar Suspended by Actors Guild of Nigeria Over Defamation Allegations
Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar has been indefinitely suspended by the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) following a two-year investigation linking her to defamatory claims about colleagues in the film industry
The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has indefinitely suspended Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar following a two-year investigation that uncovered her role in spreading defamatory information about fellow actors and other prominent figures. The AGN announced the decision on Friday, October 18, 2024, via its Instagram page, stating that the actress was responsible for leaking false stories about extramarital affairs and infidelity within the industry.
In their official statement, the AGN revealed that a special Secret Investigation Panel had found Abubakar guilty of slander after conducting a thorough and secretive inquiry. As a result, she is banned from participating in any AGN activities or filming during her suspension. The actress will also face the National Disciplinary Committee to determine further sanctions.
The Guild has warned Abubakar not to violate her suspension, as further disciplinary actions may follow. Additionally, other female members of the AGN are under investigation for similar offenses.
