Tragedy struck the Gadabuke community in the Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, as gunmen launched a deadly attack, killing one man and abducting two others. The victim, identified as Garba Yakubu, lost his life when assailants stormed the residence of Agaba Yakubu in the early hours of Monday, August 25, 2024.
The incident, confirmed by Nasarawa State's Police Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel, took place around 2:00 am, sending shockwaves through the quiet community. According to Nansel, the armed attackers broke into the home, shooting Garba Yakubu before seizing two other individuals, whose identities remain undisclosed.
“Upon receiving the distress call, the Divisional Police Officer of Toto Division immediately mobilized operatives to the scene,” Nansel stated, emphasizing the prompt response by the authorities. “The corpse of the victim was recovered and later released to his family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.”
In response to the attack, the Commissioner of Police for Nasarawa State has taken swift action to bolster security in the area, reinforcing the Toto Police Division and launching a search and rescue operation to locate the abducted individuals. The unsettling incident has left the Gadabuke community on edge, as residents call for enhanced security measures to protect them from future attacks.
The Nasarawa State Police Command remains on high alert, working diligently to ensure the safety of the community and to bring the perpetrators to justice.
