Gunmen Kidnap Over 20 Nigerian Medical Students in Benue
Over 20 medical and dental students, along with a House Officer, were kidnapped by gunmen in Benue State while traveling to a convention in Enugu.
In a distressing incident in Benue State, over 20 medical and dental students, along with a House Officer, were kidnapped by gunmen. The students, who were from the University of Maiduguri and the University of Jos, were traveling to Enugu for the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students (FECAMDS) annual convention when they were ambushed in the Otukpo area around 5:30 p.m yesterday.
The Benue State Police Command's spokesperson, SP Catherine Anene, confirmed the abduction, stating that the authorities received the report between 5:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. An investigation into the incident has been launched as efforts are underway to secure the students' release.
The sudden attack has sent shockwaves through the medical community and raised concerns about the safety of students traveling in the region.
