Gov Bala Decries as flood cuts off Bauchi-Kano-Maiduguri Road
An intense downpour has severely damaged the federal highway connecting Kano and Maiduguri, particularly in the vicinity of the Malori-Guskuri villages in Bauchi State's Katagum Local Government Area.
Significant damage has been inflicted to the federal highway that links Kano and Maiduguri by a torrential downpour, especially near the Malori-Guskuri villages in Bauchi State's Katagum Local Government Area. The devastation has damaged the road, making it inaccessible and compelling drivers to look for other ways.
In addition to underlining the significance of this road as a crucial route that connects the Northwest and Northeast geopolitical zones, Bauchi State Governor Bala Muhammad visited the impacted area to evaluate the situation. In his urgent plea for the federal government to step in and repair the damaged road, he emphasized the importance of facilitating the flow of commodities and services for the benefit of the populace.
The Katagum Local Government secretariat was destroyed during last week's violent demonstration in Azare, but the governor has promised to repair it.
The governor unveiled plans to launch an extensive initiative to rebuild and revitalize Azare in Katagum Local Government Area (LGA). This initiative will involve building more roads, renovating public buildings, and establishing programs that empower residents, especially women and young people.
In addition, Governor Mohammed pledged support for former deputy governor Senator Baba Tela in his efforts to lower the cost of repairs as well as financial aid to the Islamiyya school impacted by the disaster.
