Funke Akindele’s “Everybody Loves Jennifer” shatters box office record – Opens with over N40million
Funke Akindele's Everybody Loves Jennifer sets a Nollywood record, grossing ₦45.2M on opening day with over 9,400 admissions, redefining box office success.
Funke Akindele’s latest movie, *Everybody Loves Jennifer (ELJ)*, has set a new Nollywood record, grossing an astounding ₦45.2 million on its opening day. This achievement cements her reputation as one of Nollywood’s most influential filmmakers.
According to the Nigerian Box Office (NBO), ELJ garnered over 9,400 admissions on its first day, surpassing the opening numbers of her previous hit, *A Tribe Called Judah*, which had 8,870 admissions. Notably, this record-breaking feat was achieved despite the film not being screened at Genesis Cinemas and missing most of the day at Silverbird Cinemas.
NBO shared, “*Everybody Loves Jennifer* shattered box office records yesterday. It had the biggest opening day for a Nollywood film with ₦45.2M! The figures exclude advanced screenings and may increase slightly.”
Featuring stars like Nancy Isime, Bisola Aiyeola, and Stan Nze, the film’s success follows the legacy of *A Tribe Called Judah*, which grossed ₦1.4 billion last year, becoming the first Nollywood film to surpass the ₦1 billion mark in Nigerian cinemas.
Funke Akindele’s consistent delivery of top-notch productions has earned her global recognition. Her dedication to storytelling and quality filmmaking continues to redefine Nollywood and inspire the next generation of African filmmakers.
