Yomi’s journey into fashion wasn’t a straight path. In a 2013 interview with Legit.ng, he revealed that his career pivot stemmed from a serendipitous mistake. His sister, while filling out his JAMB form in 2002, accidentally selected Fashion Design instead of Fine and Applied Arts—his original passion as an artist. This error led him to study Fashion Design & Clothing Technology at Auchi Polytechnic, a decision that would later define his legacy. Today, Yomi Casual is a household name, dressing celebrities and serving as the official clothier for his brother, comedian AY Makun’s AY Live shows.

The throwback post also nods to “Mr Theo Da Prophet,” a 2024 Nollywood music composer, hinting at Yomi’s early ties to Nigeria’s entertainment scene. His story underscores the interconnectedness of the country’s creative industries, where talents often wear multiple hats before finding their true calling. The #ThrowbackThursday trend, popularized by the Kardashians in 2012 after originating on a 2006 sneaker blog, continues to inspire such reflections, connecting past struggles with present triumphs. Yomi’s journey reminds us that sometimes, life’s detours—like a JAMB form error—can lead to extraordinary destinations, stitching together a legacy of resilience and creativity.
