Four Nigerian students have been sentenced to prison by a UK court for their involvement in a violent gang fight that occurred in Leicester in November 2021. The altercation, which took place in the early hours of November 4, involved the use of weapons such as knives and a baseball bat, leaving an 18-year-old man with multiple stab wounds.
Following an extensive investigation by UK police, involving CCTV footage, phone records, and public appeals, the suspects—students of De Montfort University in Leicester at the time—were arrested and charged.
Detective Constable Sean Downey commented on the case, emphasizing the dangers of violent disorder: “It is extremely fortunate that further injuries were not caused to others. Following this full investigation, we were able to identify the suspects and take appropriate action. As a force, we are committed to keeping the public safe and will not tolerate violent acts in our communities.”
On November 14, 2024, all four defendants, aged 21, were sentenced to prison, marking the conclusion of a two-year investigation into the incident.
