Four injured in Lagos-Badagry Expressway auto crash
Four injured as a Mazda bus collides with a Toyota car on Lagos-Badagry Expressway; reckless driving cited as the cause.
Four individuals sustained injuries on Sunday following a collision between a Mazda commercial bus and a Toyota car on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
William Manga, Unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Badagry, confirmed the incident on Monday, noting that the crash occurred around 3:20 p.m. near Agbo-Malu Bus Stop on the Age-Mowo stretch.
"Our team was alerted immediately and arrived at the scene within three minutes, by 3:23 p.m.," Manga reported. He explained that the head-on collision involved an ABJ 95 YJ registered Mazda bus and a Toyota car bearing KTU 339 YJ, both traveling from Badagry.
A total of 18 people were involved in the accident, four of whom sustained injuries ranging from minor to severe. The injured were quickly transported to the General Hospital in Badagry for medical attention.
According to Commander Manga, reckless driving by both drivers led to the crash. The FRSC team has since cleared the wreckage, towing the vehicles to their Badagry office for further investigation.
Manga urged passengers to caution drivers about speeding and advised motorists to remain vigilant on the one-lane expressway, emphasizing that speeding on this route often leads to preventable accidents.
