Four Arrested in Shocking Murder of Federal University Lokoja Student
Four suspects, including Jeremiah Paul-Awe, arrested in the gruesome murder of a 17-year-old Federal University Lokoja student. The victim was kidnapped, killed, and ransom demanded.
The police have arrested four individuals in connection with the shocking murder of a 17-year-old female student from the Federal University Lokoja (FUL). The victim, a first-year Biology student, was allegedly abducted and killed by 21-year-old Jeremiah Paul-Awe.
According to Police Public Relations Officer SP Williams Ovye-Aya, Paul-Awe, a resident of Chikun Local Government Area in Kaduna State, was apprehended on September 11. He is accused of orchestrating the kidnapping and murder, which he allegedly committed on September 4.
The police were alerted by Stephen Oluwoyo, the victim’s father, who reported his daughter missing and received a ransom demand from an unknown number. Unaware of his daughter's death, Oluwoyo paid N400,000 to the abductor.
During interrogation, Paul-Awe confessed to drugging and strangling the student and then demanding a ransom to meet supposed ritual requirements from a native doctor he encountered on TikTok. Following Paul-Awe’s arrest, he led the police to the crime scene, where the victim’s body was recovered and taken to the Federal Teaching Hospital Lokoja for autopsy.
Further investigation uncovered that Paul-Awe had been assisted by three accomplices, two of whom were his friends. All four suspects are now in custody and will face court proceedings once the police investigation is complete.
