Former Nollywood Actor Becomes a Plumber in Canada
Nigerian actor Chris Bassey, now a plumber in Canada, shares how his new career offers better pay and a flexible lifestyle compared to tech jobs.
Nigerian actor-turned-plumber, Chris Bassey, recently opened up about his new life in Canada during an online conversation with media personality Daddy Freeze. Known for his roles in Nollywood, Bassey surprised many by revealing that he had switched from acting to working in the construction industry.
In the chat, Daddy Freeze expressed disbelief, but Bassey was quick to highlight that his current job not only offers a higher income than most tech positions but also grants him a more relaxed and flexible lifestyle, including frequent travels.
“In the past seven months alone, I’ve visited different provinces in Canada, just for the weekend. Even those in tech can’t afford that. Well, at least here in Canada—I can't speak for the UK or US,” Bassey explained.
He further predicted a shift in the tech industry’s value, suggesting that as the younger generation becomes more proficient in coding and tech-related skills, the demand for tech jobs could diminish over time.
