Former Acting Lagos Police Commissioner Is Dead
Waheed Ayilara, former acting police commissioner, Lagos and current Akwa Ibom police commissioner died hours after undergoing surgery for prostate cancer.
Former Lagos acting police commissioner and current Akwa Ibom police commissioner, Waheed Ayilara, is dead
According to the Nation, Ayilara died in the early hours of Thursday at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja.
He was said to have undergone a prostate cancer surgery on Wednesday hours before his death.
We are very sad to inform you that our friend, brother, and family, the Commissioner of Police for Akwa Ibom State, Waheed Ayilara, is dead,” the family was quoted as saying.
In November 2023, as a DCP, Ayilara was unveiled as the acting Commissioner of Police in Lagos.
The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, deployed Ayilara to head Akwa Ibom State Command in February 2024.
