Food Poisoning Kills Seven in Sokoto
At least seven members of the same family have reportedly died in the Shagari Local Government Area of Sokoto's Runjin Barmo hamlet of Kajiji District after consuming tainted cassava delicacies.
According to reports, consuming tainted cassava delicacy has killed no less than seven members of the same family in the Runjin Barmo hamlet of Kajiji District in the Shagari Local Government Area of Sokoto. This is stated in a statement that was issued by Nura Bello, the information officer for the Sokoto State Ministry of Health, on behalf of Hajiya Asabe Balarabe, the commissioner for health.
According to the statement, the victims ate the cassava dish for supper when the village chief, Malam Muhammadu Modi, was telling the story to the Balarabe, who had brought a large delegation to the region. He stated, "The father, Malam Abubakar, his wife, A'ishatu Abubakar, and their five children comprised the victims."
The reason for the death has not yet been determined. "He explained that this was because no cases of illness were reported in the four houses in the village that had used the suspected cassava." According to the statement, the village head expressed gratitude to Dr. Ahmed Aliyu, the state governor, on behalf of the people for expressing concern to them in that regard.
Balarabe stated in her statements that they were in the area to determine what caused the occurrence and to report that information to the state administration so that appropriate action could be taken. After consuming the alleged cassava meal, one kid who was chance to be alive would have samples taken by the ministry, according to the commissioner. She expressed her condolences to the public on behalf of the state governor, and she prayed to Allah for forgiveness for those who lost their lives in the disaster. She took use of the occasion to urge people to report any unusual disease in their areas as soon as possible so that the ministry can take appropriate action.
Sani Bello Tambuwal, the Shagari Local Government Area's Director of Health, expressed gratitude to the commissioner for her care and expressed the hope that the effort would continue. The State Hospital Services Management Board Executive Director, Dr. Bello Abubakar Attahiru, a few directors, and additional ministry employees accompanied the commissioner on the tour.
