Severe flooding has devastated over 103 communities in Ahoada West LGA, Rivers State, submerging homes and farmland due to heavy rainfall and a major overflow of the Orashi River. In the LGA's capital, Akinima, entire neighborhoods and farmlands are now underwater. Impacted areas include Mbiama, Engenni, Enedua, and others, with residents facing rising hardship. Ahoada West’s Chief Press Secretary, Esedi Joe, expressed that the council is overwhelmed by the scale of the crisis and is urgently appealing to NEMA and international aid organizations for immediate assistance.
