Flood Sacks Over 5, 000 Households In Yobe
Over 5,000 households in Yobe State have been affected by floods and windstorms.
The Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has revealed that more than 5,000 households across 208 communities in 16 local government areas have been impacted by severe flooding and windstorms. In a recent update shared on its official Facebook page, the agency highlighted that these alarming figures span from April 2024 to the present.
Particularly hard-hit were the local government areas of Karasuwa, Yusufari, Machina, and Nguru, where devastating floods have taken a toll on countless families. In response to the disaster, SEMA has swiftly conducted a rapid needs assessment of the affected populations, adhering to the highest standards of emergency response.
The agency reaffirmed its commitment to bridging the gaps in relief efforts, ensuring that victims receive the protection and support they desperately need, within the constraints of available resources. “Validation is currently underway,” SEMA stated, “and immediate needs and assistance, aligned with the available resources, will be provided as directed by His Excellency, Gov. Mai Mala Buni.”
